Orlistat is used to treat obesity and help in weight loss. Orlistat is to be used along with a low-calorie diet and regular physical exercise. Obesity is a common condition associated with excessive body fat, which in turn increases the risk of other health problems such as diabetes, high blood pressure, certain cancers, and heart disease. Intake of more calories than you burn by exercise or daily activities results in obesity.

Orlistat contains Orlistat, which works in the small intestine and stomach and prevents the action of enzymes that break down fat, which is absorbed by the body. Orlistat decreases the absorption of fat from the food you eat. Thus, fat passes through the gut and is excreted in the faeces, which makes the body unable to use fat as a source of energy or convert it into fat tissue. Thereby, Orlistat helps in weight loss.

Take Orlistat as prescribed by your doctor. You are advised to take Orlistat for as long as your doctor has prescribed it for you based on your medical condition. Some people may experience soft stools, sudden bowel motions, flatulence (gas) with or without oily spotting, oily or fatty stools, stomach pain, stool incontinence (involuntary leakage of stools), and runny or liquid stools. Most of these side effects of Orlistat do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if the side effects persist, please consult your doctor.

If you are allergic to Orlistat or any other medicines, please tell your doctor. Avoid taking Orlistat if you are pregnant or planning for pregnancy, as it may cause fetal harm. It is not known whether Orlistat is excreted in human milk. Therefore, please consult a doctor if you are a breastfeeding woman. Orlistat is not recommended for children below 18 years of age, as the safety and effectiveness were not established. You are advised to take a multivitamin containing fat-soluble vitamins such as A, D, E, and K at bedtime as Orlistat may reduce the absorption of certain vitamins in the body.

The most common side effects of Orlistat are diarrhea, flatulence (gas), nosebleeds, indigestion, and stomach pain. If you experience any of these symptoms, please inform your doctor immediately. Also, if you have anyi ctumers side effects, please inform your doctor as soon as possible. The most common drug interactions with Orlistat are fat-soluble vitamins such as A, D, E, and K. A drug interaction with Orlistat is unlikely to have any impact on your medical condition. However, please consult your doctor if you are an older woman or if you have ever had an allergic reaction to Orlistat or any other drug.oiler/poppers

Abstract

Introduction

Oily or slimming a woman’s body is often the result of a lack of natural hormones or from a lack of dietary habits. The use of over-the-counter (OTC) and prescription drugs like orlistat has become a public health issue since the late 1970s [

]. Over-the-counter (OTC) drugs, such as orlistat, are now available and the World Health Organization (WHO) has approved them for a number of different reasons [

However, the use of OTC drugs for weight management in the United States, with the intention of preventing obesity and weight loss, is still not without risk. Currently, there are no available medications for obesity treatment, and there are some OTC medications that are associated with weight loss. In this study, we report the prevalence of obesity, orlistat (Xenical®), in women who were prescribed OTC drugs for obesity and who lost 5% of their weight. We also describe the characteristics of the women who developed obesity and the impact of this on their lifestyle. The women were asked to participate in a structured online survey to identify their lifestyle changes and health status. The women answered questions about their medical history, lifestyle, and personal habits. The women were also asked about the type of drug they used and other medications used. The women were then asked whether they were taking any other drugs, orlistat, or other OTC drugs, orlistat, or other OTC drugs. We also asked them to report on their medical history, and the reasons for their use of any other drugs, orlistat, or other OTC drugs, and their use of other drugs.

Methods

Study design

This study was a cross-sectional, multicentre, multisite, randomised, placebo-controlled study. We conducted this study on the basis of a self-administered questionnaire designed to collect information on women’s lifestyle changes, medical history, and medical treatment.

Inclusion criteria

Women were recruited from a community pharmacy in the United States from August 2018 to December 2019. The study protocol was reviewed and approved by the institutional review board of the University of Washington School of Medicine, and was registered on the ClinicalTrials.gov (). Women were asked to answer the questions about their lifestyle, medical history, and medical treatment. Women were excluded from the study if they had any of the following conditions:

  • Informed consent from the participants
  • Unacceptable language in the participant’s answers
  • Informed consent from the participant or their partner (or a friend or relative) that they were not pregnant or breastfeeding and could have been breastfed or were taking any of the OTC drugs used to treat obesity (orlistat, or any other OTC drug)
  • Pregnant women
  • Men with diabetes or with a history of diabetes, such as a history of obesity, a history of diabetes or a history of heart disease
  • Women who had been on a lipid-lowering drug
  • Women who had a history of liver disease
  • Women who had a history of a type of pancreatic cancer, such as a history of cancer of the pancreas

Inclusion criteria were also approved by the institutional review board of the U. S. National Institutes of Health; these criteria are the most recent and most current data on obesity (and related disorders) from the United States National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey [

Men with a BMI of 27–29.5 were eligible to participate in this study. BMI was calculated using the following formula: BMI= body weight*height (1-height2/2) × age (1–age)

Data collection

We collected the following data:

Participant information was collected as part of the questionnaire. Participants completed a health assessment form and completed a health questionnaire at the first assessment. We also collected a medical history to describe their medical history, lifestyle, and treatment. All participants were asked to describe their medical history, lifestyle, and treatment.
